ULTRA Series High Temperature & Pressure Conductivity Sensor

The ULTRA Series Digital Smart Conductivity Sensor with High Temperature & Pressure (HTP) option is designed for inline installations at up to 500 psig at 100 °C, or 250 psig at 205 °C. A compact ¾" NPT process connection and 316SS and PEEK wetted materials make it suitable for boiler, condensate and reverse osmosis applications, including locations without sample coolers.

Like all Turtle Tough Digital Smart Sensors, it outputs a fully calibrated Modbus RTU (RS-485) signal and stores calibration data, time in service and diagnostic information on-board.

FAQ

Where are high temperature conductivity sensors used?

High temperature and pressure conductivity sensors are used where the process cannot easily be cooled or depressurized for measurement – for example boiler blowdown control, condensate return monitoring, heat exchanger leak detection, steam purity measurement and high-pressure RO or desalination reject concentrate.

What is the difference between conductivity and resistivity?

Resistivity is the inverse of conductivity. For very pure water, such as ultrapure water (UPW), readings are usually expressed as resistivity in megohm-cm (MΩ·cm) because conductivity values become very small. The HTP sensor's low-range configuration can report computed MΩ units.

What are the advantages of the HTP conductivity sensor?

  • Rated for high pressure and high temperature inline service
  • Compact ¾” MNPT 316SS inline process connection
  • Available in 25 mm (1.0″) and 57 mm (2.25″) insertion depths, with every cell constant offered in both
  • Low-range configuration with computed MΩ resistivity units, using linear user-adjustable or non-linear ultrapure-water temperature compensation
  • Special K = 0.1 /cm configuration for ultrapure water (UPW) applications
  • Stores temperature and cell constant calibrations on the sensor

How should the HTP sensor be installed?

The sensor can be installed in any orientation, provided the measuring cell stays completely full with no trapped air. For inline installations the vent hole should sit fully in the flow path; if that is not possible, install the tip facing into the flow, typically at a pipe elbow. For batch tanks that are drained, an inverted installation from the top of the tank is preferred.
