ULTRA Series Digital Smart Toroidal Conductivity Sensor

The ULTRA Series Digital Smart Toroidal Inductive Conductivity Sensor from Turtle Tough is designed for wide-range, high-conductivity measurement in chemically aggressive processes. A polypropylene sensor tip and Kynar body provide outstanding chemical resistance.

Integral RS-485 Modbus RTU communications allow a simple, fully portable installation. The sensor can be calibrated in the lab, shop or field, and temperature and cell constant calibrations can be done in service to match grab-sample reference values.

FAQ

What is a toroidal conductivity sensor?

A toroidal (inductive or electrodeless) conductivity sensor uses two encapsulated coils instead of exposed electrodes. One coil induces a current in the liquid passing through the sensor bore, and the second coil measures it. The induced current is proportional to the conductivity of the solution.

When should I choose a toroidal sensor over a contacting sensor?

Because no metal electrodes touch the process, toroidal sensors resist fouling, coating and corrosion, making them well suited to high-conductivity, dirty or chemically aggressive solutions such as acids, caustics and brines. Contacting sensors are the better choice for low-conductivity and pure water, where toroidal sensors lack sensitivity.

What are the advantages of the ULTRA toroidal conductivity sensor?

  • Polypropylene (PP) sensor tip and Kynar body for outstanding chemical resistance
  • Two user-selectable operating modes cover a very wide conductivity range
  • Automatic temperature compensation with an integral Pt1000 element
  • Computed salinity (PSU) and selectable TDS units (NaCl, 442 or KCl)
  • Compatible with Turtle Tough TOUCH Series controllers, the DSS1 Series analyser and any Modbus RTU (RS-485) device
