POOLPRO™ Pool & Spa Test Tool

Accuracy you can trust

Since 1957, the Myron L Company has designed and manufactured highly reliable analytical instruments for a wide variety of demanding applications. Thousands of professionals around the world rely on the performance of our instruments every day. Uses range from boiler water testing to ultrapure water control to medical instruments for artificial kidney machines.

We are proud of the trust our handheld instruments and monitor/controllers have earned. We have continued to build on that trust and have reached a new and greater level of quality and performance in the latest instrument in our line of handheld tools: The POOLPRO™ is an extremely reliable, precise, affordable, multi-parameter instrument for testing water quality in any pool or spa. If you own, operate or service a commercial pool or spa, you need a POOLPRO™.

Every Pool Professional Needs a POOLPRO™

There are many factors affecting the comfort and sanitation of pool and spa water and the functioning of the equipment and structures that hold it. A variety of test kits can be used to measure these factors, but the powerful POOLPRO™ is the most comprehensive testing tool available for any pool or spa. You get fast, lab-accurate results for pH, Free Chlorine, TDS, ORP, Mineral/ Salt Concentration, Conductivity, and Temperature. And every POOLPRO™ comes with an internal LSI/Hardness calculator for on-the-spot water balance analysis.

Maintain Balanced Water

POOLPRO™ tests basic parameters required to balance water so you can protect your pool or spa shell, plumbing, and all other related equipment from damage by etching or build-up and stains.

POOLPRO™ gives you instant, precise pH readings. Using colored strips or solutions can produce wildly varying, inaccurate results. pH is the most important factor in water balance and must be kept within a recommended range that also optimizes the sanitizer’s ability to work.

POOLPRO™ is also a quick and easy way to stay on top of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS). TDS is another factor in water balance and profoundly impacts water taste and bather comfort.

In a commercial pool or spa you must carefully monitor and control TDS on a regular basis to maintain acceptable levels. This prevents having to eventually drain and refill the pool or spa with new, lower TDS water — which is not only costly, but may be illegal.

POOLPRO™ measures and reports temperature to one tenth of a degree with every sample taken. Temperature plays a role in water balance, the growth of microorganisms, and especially affects bather comfort.

Analyze Water Balance On-the-Spot

The POOLPRO™ now features an LSI calculator that makes it easy to analyze the scaling nature of water in the lab or in the field. Using a calcium carbonate saturation index algorithm developed by Dr. Wilfred Langelier in 1936, the calculator computes the saturation index of a sample based on measured and inferred values for pH, temperature, hardness and alkalinity. You can then change any of these values in user adjust mode to analyze the effect of the change on water balance. User mode also allows you to input measured values for alkalinity and hardness as determined by other independent testing for a precise saturation index value.
Saturation index values are generally interpreted as follows:

An index between -0.5 and +0.5 indicates balanced water
An index of more than +0.5 indicates scale-forming water
An index below -0.5 indicates corrosive water

Convert Hardness Units

Within the LSI Calculator is a Hardness calculator that allows you to select either ppm or grains of hardness units for saturation index calculation. The hardness unit conversion is based on the following equivalency: 17.1 ppm (mg/L) = 1 grain. The hardness range is limited to 0.0 – 1710 ppm and 0.0 – 100 grains of hardness in the POOLPRO™.

Keep Water Sanitary

Myron L’s POOLPRO™ provides the fastest, most precise, easy-to-use method of obtaining Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP or REDOX) readings to check the true level of effectiveness of all sanitizers in any pool or spa. Tests are available that determine the amount of free and total chlorine, bromine, and other sanitizers.
However, ORP is the only way to determine the total killing power of them all. ORP objectively and precisely measures the sanitizer’s ability to burn up, or oxidize, organic matter in the water. ORP can only be determined by an electronic instrument.

Automatic control systems that rely on ORP to monitor and control sanitizer levels require manual testing with separate instrumentation as a necessary check to ensure the system is working properly.

Measure Free Chlorine

POOLPRO™ now features the ability to convert Oxidation Reduction Potential measurements from mV to parts per million free chlorine. mV and ppm free chlorine are the two most commonly used sanitizer measurement units in water quality management. The mV to ppm free chlorine conversion algorithm is based on a published conversion curve and bench testing performed at the Myron L Company. The accuracy of low-range ppm free chlorine readings has been increased by extrapolating from the published data. With this new feature Myron L instruments can measure a dynamic range of sanitizer concentrations that is wider than the range of a colorimetric test kit.

Saltwater Sanitation

POOLPRO™ conveniently tests for mineral/salt concentration at the press of a button. In saltwater systems, manual testing with separate instrumentation is necessary to ensure enough sodium chloride is present to generate the chlorine required to sanitize the water. System components can scale or fail and must be re-calibrated as part of regular maintenance.

Reportable Records with Bluetooth®† Technology

POOLPRO™ makes it easy to record, analyze, archive, and report water quality data with the optional bluDock™ accessory package. The bluDock is a fast, easy way to comply with recordkeeping and reporting requirements. This powerful option enables the POOLPRO™ to communicate wirelessly with any computer configured to recognize Bluetooth devices. The data can then be imported into any program necessary for record-keeping and analysis.

Simply The Best

POOLPRO™ is lightweight, portable, buoyant, waterproof, easy-to-calibrate, and easy-to-use. Simply rinse and fill the cell cup by dipping the POOLPRO™ in the water, then press the button of the parameter you wish to measure. You immediately get a standard, numerical digital readout — eliminating all subjectivity. Up to 100 date-timestamped readings can be stored in POOLPRO™’s non-volatile memory.

POOLPRO™ is the pool professional’s tool of choice for comprehensive, efficient, cost-effective testing of any pool or spa water.
